Director – Head of Legal to support an exciting business of an important player in the securities and funds services industry.
Responsibilities
- You will manage the legal activities effectively to ensure it adds value and improve the organization’s operations, support and provide legal advice for new business solutions
- Providing comprehensive legal advice with a focus on banking and capital market/securities law and corporate governance matters in a regulatory context to various stakeholders, including boards and board members, within the Group in Luxembourg abroad
- Besides advising on individual legal questions, new product launches and other BAU commercial agreements, you will be involved in projects, business initiatives, strategic cooperation agreements and their negotiations as well as approval procedures with financial market regulators
- Furthermore, you will contribute to the implementation of requirements pursuant to new laws and regulations
- You will be working closely together with internal stakeholders in our business lines, other central functions and you will closely cooperate and align with legal colleagues in Group Legal and relevant subsidiaries and ensure that your team will do the same
- You will take responsibility for the selection and coordination of external law firms, including cost management.
- You will regularly report to internal senior stakeholders, including in Group Legal, Company supervisory board(s), Company committees and board members
- You will effectively manage the legal budget for your team and have oversight over your legal team. Further supervise, coach and develop the members of your team, provide professional trainings and performance appraisals
Profile
- Fully qualified lawyer holding a Master of Law degree or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in a law firm or inhouse in Luxembourg with focus on bank- and capital market/securities law
- Knowledge in Luxembourg regulatory matters will be considered a strong advantage
- Several years experience in securities services as well as investment services is an asset
- In-depth practical and professional experience from a manągerial position with regard to length of service, nature and complexity of the business, scope of competencies, technical knowledge and team size
- Highly motivated, pro-active, self-managed, high work ethics, goal-oriented approach coupled with analytical skills. Work under high pressure with high degree of reliability and sense of urgency and execution as well as juggling multiple demands
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to explain complex topics in a structured way and present them in accordance with different target audiences, such as senior management or regulators
- Extroverted personality to build and maintain an internal and external network
- Inclusive leadership style, leveraging diversity and ability to lead and work well with international teams
- Fluent in English, French language skills will be a plus
